The Return Of Greyie

On the faithful morning of 25 January 2009, at approximately 1:39am, I was at the sundry shop looking for the grey kitten to feed, when I saw the notorious black cat staring sharply under a car parked near the shop. I knelt down and caught a glimpse of a cat hiding under it. I hissed and the black cat scampered away. Crawling out from under the car, I was very surprised and delighted to find that it was Greyie. He has returned!
However, he was so skinny and dirty. The moment he saw me, he started meowing and rubbing his head and body against my feet. His cries are so loud that he attracted the workers’ attention from the sundry shop. They told me that “your cat wants food from you”, and I happily answered “yes”.

So, I bought a can of wet food for him. Obediently, he followed me all the way to the TNB area where I normally feed him and his siblings, Snowie and Sweetie (before he disappeared).

I poured the wet food out onto the plastic bag, and he ate like he has never eaten before. While Greyie was eating, I went to find Snowie. I wanted to tell her the good news; that her brother came back.
I led her to her brother. Greyie took a look at her. She ran toward his direction. They sniffed at each other. And Greyie decided to share his meal with her.

The following day, I found them lingering at the Thai Muslim restaurant. The moment they heard my footstep, they ran toward me and followed me to the TNB area where I served them their meal.

I was so happy to see them reunited once again!

Snowie, The Remaining Sibling

Ever since the disappearance of her siblings, Sweetie and Greyie, Snowie is the remaining feline wandering about alone without having any of her siblings to play with.
Whenever she sees me, she would straighten her tail and ran toward me. I guess I am the only friend or family member she has now. I believe she knows quite well that I would feed and spend some time with her.

These pictures were taken when she had a bit of mange on her ears. I applied medicine on her ears on alternate days for about two to three weeks. I was totally elated to find that they got better by the day. I was actually very impressed that she lied down quietly and allowed me to cure her ears. She is indeed a very mild mannered cat.

She has grown into a very beautiful adult cat. A month or two ago, she was tailed by a male cat. Being her first time, she had no experience at all. She hissed and fought with him when he tried to approach and mount her. If I were around, she would hide behind me. I was her protector!

I have been checking her tummy and I don't see any sign of pregnancy. I am not sure but I don't think she is pregnant!

Disappearance Of Greyie

He is my favourite kitten since he was a baby. My love for him grew even more when he and his siblings were abandoned by their mother at such tender age.
It has been more than two weeks since Greyie disappeared. I couldn't find him anywhere within the apartment area. He used to hang about at the Thai Muslim restaurant, and I had no problem in finding him and his siblings. All I had to do was to whistle and they would come running to me.

The last few days before his disappearance, I found him and his remaining sibling, Snowie, spending a lot of time at the Mamak restaurant, which is located at another apartment block. I had to bring them back to their 'territory' to feed them because I wanted them to stay at where they were before.

The day before he disappeared for good, I could still remember he rubbed his body all over my feet, and as usual, he wanted me to rub his head with my hands. Looking into my eyes, he meowed several times while thrusting his head against my palm. When I stopped rubbing, he asked for more and I obliged. I thought it was rather peculiar for never before did he ask for such request.
I guess I know now. That was most probably his way of thanking me and to bid me farewell. If I say I do not miss him, and do not worry about his safety wherever he may be, I am lying to myself.

Play Time For Greyie, Snowie & Sweetie

It is always play time for Greyie, Snowie & Sweetie after their meal. They would chase and pounce, jump and flip over and land on each other. Sometimes, they would stay very still and without any warning, would ambush each other. It is really hilarious and entertaining to watch them play.
They would race among themselves and spring before landing their claws against the tree and climb as high as they could. I am always astounded at their strength and swiftness.

At times, they would play hide-and-seek among the bushes. I managed to take this picture at one of the evenings depicting Snowie as the seeker trying to find her siblings who hid behind the bushes. I had a good laugh watching them running and leaping in and out of the bushes.
Most of the time, I would spend some time chatting with the security guard, and they would amuse themselves at one of the benches erected outside the main entrance of the apartment block. This picture showed Snowie sitting on the bench grooming when suddenly Greyie went under the bench and pretended to maul her with his tiny paw.

Once they have reached the point of exhaustion, they would either rest on the staircase or the floor to catch their breaths. If I happened to be sitting on the bench talking to the security guard, they would sometimes gather and rest under it.

I find playing with the kittens and/or watching them play is indeed very therapeutic for the soul.

These pictures were taken before the disappearance of Sweetie. His whereabout is now unknown.

Greyie Shared His New Found Toy

On the evening of 4 June 2009, just like any other days, I went down to feed the cats. I always feed the kittens at the TNB area where I put a container and replace its water every day for their consummation.

Anyway, only Sweetie and Snowie showed up that evening. Nevertheless, I fed both of them and at the same time in a lookout for Greyie. Half an hour had passed. There was still no sign of Greyie. Since both Sweetie and Snowie were done eating, I decided to leave. As I was about to, I saw him carrying something in his mouth walking very cautiously along the bushes.
As he approached the TNB area, I was horrified to see him carrying a gecko in his mouth, and was pretty much relieved once I realized it was a dead gecko.

He was tossing and throwing the dead gecko in the air with his mouth as well as nabbing and lifting it with his little front paws. He was so engrossed that nothing, not even my biscuits could make him stopped playing with his new found toy. Therefore, together with his siblings, we decided to watch him play.

All of a sudden, he stopped playing, walked to the container and started nibbling at the biscuits. He must have either got hungry or bored with his new found toy. Snowie who had been eyeing the dead gecko from the beginning decided to take over the fun while Sweetie looked on and waited anxiously for his turn. It would be a shame not to share such a good fun toy, wouldn’t it?

Disappearance Of Sweetie

I was out of town for a week. When I came back, I went about to feed the cats as usual, and was looking so forward to see the kittens. I saw his siblings, Greyie and Snowie but not Sweetie. I thought to myself that he must have missed my calling and failed to show up.
The next day, he failed to show up again. I began to worry about his safety knowing that the Notorious Black Male Cat has been terrorizing them. I went looking for him around the area where these kittens normally spend their time. But, no sign of him at all.
He failed to show up the following day, the day after and it has been a week since he disappeared. I do not think he was adopted by someone. Most likely, he was driven away by the Notorious Black Male Cat.
I was very much saddened by his disappearance for I do love this kitten very much.
